Parade Specifics
Wednesday, September 12th - Starting Time 6pm

Participants may request an entry form via e-mail  cowanl@cityofalvarado.org , download one from this link, or you may pick-up a printed Parade Entry Application Form at the Alvarado Public Library 210 N. Baugh Street beginning Monday, 8-06-18 at 10:00 AM. The library is open until from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM Monday - Friday and from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday.

 Registration will end on Friday, 9-7-2018 at 6:00pm.

You must decide, from the list of categories, the proper category number and category title of your entry and note this on your registration form. PLEASE NOTE - the Parade Committee reserves the right to re-assign floats within categories as appropriate. Also -  Boy Scouts either walking or riding on a float will choose Boy Scout Troop as their category. Girl Scouts either walking or riding on a float will choose Girl Scout Troop as their category.

Groups and clubs may choose one member to register for them.

 In order to insure receipt of prize money for winning entries you must include the name of your group (if any), a contact name, and phone number on your Parade Entry Application Form.

After your application has been approved you will be notified by either e-mail or phone. A Parade Packet containing your Parade Entry Number, your assigned Staging Area, and the Parade Route Map will be given to you on the day of the Parade at Parade Headquarters - in the triangle at E. College Ave. and N. Baugh St. in front of the Kiddie Corral Day Care Center.  (Parade parking is NOT allowed in the parking lot at the Kiddie Corral Day Care Center.)

 

 Parade Rules

  1. All participants must check-in at Parade Headquarters on the day of the parade, Wednesday, September 12th, between 4:00 and 5:30pm and confirm their assigned Parade Position and Staging Area.

  2. Starting time of the Parade is exactly 6:00pm.

  3. All participants must display their Parade Entry Number on the front right side of their vehicle, bicycle, horse's saddle, etc. or the front right passenger side window of the vehicle towing their float and be in position at their assigned Staging Area by 5:45pm.

  4. No favors, such as candy, gum or any other items, will be thrown from or by any entry or participant during the parade. This will be strictly enforced and failure to comply will be cause for disqualification and removal from the Parade.

  5. A float is a low, flat vehicle self-propelled or in tow by any source with sufficient power and speed to maintain its place in the Parade. The towing source is not a part of the float.

  6. Awards will be presented at the Reunion Pavilion as soon as possible after the Parade is over.

  7. A special note: units involving horses will be required provide necessary health certification required by the state.

  8. Parade parking is NOT allowed in the lot at the Kiddie Corral Day Care Center.

  9. End of the Parade - Follow the signs directing you to enter the JCPOSR parking lot.  No one may leave the Parking Lot until the Police Department opens the back gate to the Parking Lot opening out onto Glenwood Ave.

It is highly recommended that decorated floats, cars, trucks/and or entrants in costumes demonstrate a theme.
