2017 Juvenile  Summer Reading Club Guidelines
(Age: toddler to 12 years)


Read books from our library so you can become a Pirate and Sail Into Reading!
Minimum reading requirement = 600 minutes or 10 hours

Earn extra READING MINUTES by participating in our Pirate Playoffs on Wednesday, July 19th from 11:30am to 3:30pm. (Pirate feats of Strength, Skill, and Endurance, and some video gaming too!)

Every time you turn in a completed Tracking form you may pick a prize from our Treasure Chest!

Please pick up time tracking forms at the circulation desk.

Two age categories: 5-9 & 10-12

Parents/guardians may read to their children ages 4 and under so their children may receive a reading certificate and coupons for free surprises. However, if you have a younger child who can demonstrate their reading skills to us at the library they will be allowed to compete with the 5-9 year old children for top reader prizes.

Parents must initial all tracking forms and make sure the forms are returned to the library by 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2nd.

Coupons and Certificates
All children who complete at least one the Summer Reading Club tracking form will receive coupons for free surprises from local area merchants and a special reading certificate to be awarded at a private Awards Ceremony & Party  - by invitation only. Time & date to be shared with those who complete the reading club requirements for their age group. Children may be accompanied by no more than 2 adults (legal guardians, parents or grandparents) who will also be served refreshments at the party. All children in attendance must have completed the reading club requirements for their age group.

Coupons and certificates may be picked up at a later date but please remember that the coupons will expire on September 9th.

 

Walmart Gift Cards & Special Prizes
We will award Walmart Gift Cards and special prizes to the Top Five Readers who have read the most minutes in their age group. 

These awards are not given to children who cannot read for themselves.

 In conjunction with our Summer Reading Program theme we will be featuring comic books,  graphic novels and new fiction as well as nonfiction books on many different subjects. We will be ordering new books all summer and we hope you will remember to make requests for your favorite authors or subjects at the circulation desk.
